As the great writer that he was, Leon Trotsky left -in addition to his important work as a Marxist theoretician- a written legacy that still constitutes in our time part of the best documentation on the historical events that he lived through. In our selection we combine the account that he tells -as a direct protagonist- of his beginnings as a revolutionary, the most salient paragraphs of his memoirs on the Russian Revolution and, also, the shocking account of his fall from power after the death of Lenin, the Stalin's unstoppable rise and his odyssey into exile as an exile whom no country wanted within its borders.
