Té de Melisa begins by introducing us to the orphan 9457 and her recently released adoptive parents, the wealthy gentlemen Gómez, who do not hesitate to abandon her at the door of an unknown house, next to a Melisa plant, after verifying that she only has eight fingers. The owner of that house, Mr. Capybara, is a cunning and generous rodent capable of speaking four languages and reciting the alphabet backwards, and he will gladly welcome her into his home with changing rooms. Mr. Capybara, the mischievous Martinic elves, Jacinto -a linguist goose who doesn't like children-, and the fairy Isidora will have to deal with Mr. Pruñonosa, the curmudgeonly neighbor who owns Martillazos S.A., "very proud to be a practical and unsympathetic man".
