Tannisho

palabras de Shinran sobre el Camino de la Tierra Pura recogidas por su discípulo Yuien

Shinran

Tannisho is the founding work of Pure Land Buddhism. Little known in the West, it has exerted enormous influence on the spiritual education of the Japanese people and, for the past two centuries, has captivated leading intellectuals from East and West. The philosophers Nishida, Miki, Umehara and Heidegger, the writers Endo, Shiba, Yoshimoto and Rolland are just a few of those who have fallen in love with this century-old book. Literally, Tannisho means "regretting deviations." Around the year 1288, when more than two decades had passed since the death of Master Shinran (1173-1262), founder of the School of the True Pure Land, his disciple Yuien set himself the task of fighting against the misrepresentations that obscured the right sense of the teachings of his Master. When the current dizzying changes cause confusion in so many people, works like Tannisho invite us to recover those spiritual and moral values that reveal contrasted paths of humanization and meaning.
