Suite francesa

versión inédita

Némirovsky, Irène

French Suite describes the exodus that in June 1940 plunged many French families into terrible chaos. From the village of Issy-l'Évêque, Irène Némirovsky traces the small, everyday acts of cowardice and the fragile impulses of solidarity of a distraught population. Her novel reflects the disturbing daily life of a country under the yoke of invaders until her arrest in July 1942. Thus, the great story precipitates the fate of French Suite. Her unfinished manuscript and her notes were kept in a suitcase. Years later, her daughter Denise unearthed French Suite. There were, however, two versions of the novel: the published one, which won the Renaudot Prize in 2004, and a second reworked one that, discovered in 2013, is now seeing the light of day.
