At nineteen years old, Zuhaitz Gurrutxaga fulfilled the dream of his life: making his debut with Real Sociedad in the First Division. The pearl of the Guipuzcoan youth team captivated the fans and the press, but he began to feel more and more pressure: "I was very afraid of failing on the field. I came to hate football for everything it made me suffer." One summer night he lost his mind and thought he had gone crazy forever. He did not have words to name what was happening to him, he did not dare to tell anyone, and on the playing fields he tried to hide it as best he could. The same day that Gurrutxaga became runner-up in the League with Real, his mother was so scared by his behavior that she looked for a psychologist at random and took him to her consultation. Gurrutxaga fell through First, Second, Second B and Third teams, while he fought against anxiety, depression and a serious obsessive-compulsive disorder. The funny thing is that he never lost his humor. When he hung up his boots, he took to the theater stages to tell the story of professional football, his own battles, his sporting and sexual disasters, his varied and bizarre failures, in very funny monologues. Thanks to his radical and tender sense of humor, he reconciled with football and with himself.
