Sombras, incendios y desvanes
diecisiete poetas rumanas (1961-1980)
Iliescu Gheorghiu, Catalina
(ed.)
The lyrical unity present in Shadows, fires and attics is striking despite the diversity of voices, styles and poetics that it brings together. This unit comes from a certain leaden atmosphere but always full of discoveries. Let's say that it is a poetic expressionism, a journey that encompasses the different modes of knowledge of each voice collected here. A wound, or its decided stagnation, runs through an environment, initially grayer, and a nature, real and human, that grows stronger, open, solid. The solidity comes from the waters that have watered this root: Ovidio, Eminescu, Celan, Isanos... fuel that ignites and burns fire to these voices that converse with Frida Kahlo, Italo Calvino, shadows that accompany themselves in deep introspection about history and its possible future. This atmosphere is reflected in turn in the poetic forms and in the topics addressed: the destruction, the suburb, the acidity... but also, in the reconstruction of that voice that they have dreamed of and desired. We hear them, philologists, philosophers, historians, translators, editors... Playful, irreverent, owners of their voice.
