Under the watchful eye of the vultures, and perhaps guided by some kind of destiny, the steps of Jordan stumble upon some bones of prodigious antiquity in the middle of a wasteland: a find of incalculable value and perhaps his last chance to pay off the debt that it keeps him tied to a criminal past. At the other extreme of guilt awaits Iñigo, who finds himself lost in a gray and simulated life at the age of forty, and is torn between dealing with the ghosts of his memory or facing the even more fearsome abyss of the present; the same dizzying present that makes Olalla's nights in the hospital eternal, while her son turns in bed, shaken by dreams in which he wanders along the shore between life and death.
