The poetic work of Sandro Penna is one of the most important of the Italian Novecento. Once regarded as the Italian Cavafy, his openly homoerotic poetry, so apparently crystalline and full of a strange joie de vivre, was much admired by Pasolini, who considered him the best living poet of the transalpine country. With Si la vida sabés l'amor meu, we offer the Catalan reader all the poems that the poet himself chose, a few years before he died, as a literary testament. They are, paraphrasing the author, the ones he valued the most and the ones he wanted to leave for posterity, if posterity existed.
