Señalado por la muerte

Señalado por la muerte

Welsh, Irvine

It's 2015 and the destinies of Renton, Begbie, Sick Boy and Spud cross again. That is to say: we have the main quartet of Trainspotting reunited again in what the author has announced as "the Grand Finale of the saga." Renton is now a successful DJ manager who travels around the world and runs into Begbie on a transatlantic flight, now a successful artist, married man and father of a family. The other two have not done so well in life: Sick Boy is still in the business of exploiting the female body and Spud is a kind of professional beggar who begs for money on the streets accompanied by his dog. Things begin to get complicated with a shady matter of trafficking in donated or stolen organs and kidneys, to which is added a corpse and the appearance of some luxury secondary such as the priapic taxi driver Terry Lawson, an old acquaintance of the faithful readers of Welsh. And so, at an accelerated pace that gives no respite, we will slide down a crazy roller coaster of sex -explicit and sometimes grotesquely comic-, drugs -in all its wide spectrum-, alcohol, social satire, reflection on the passage of time and the doubtful chances of maturing, and debauchery and delirium in industrial quantities.
