While driving home, a father and his two sons find an injured deer on the side of the road. They take him home and take care of him. He thus becomes a member of the family. When the children's grandmother arrives, she does not like the idea of living with a wild animal. Family conflicts and history intensify when the traumas of a recent duel are confronted with the deer's desire to find his place in the forest again.
