Rome, 238 AD C. The reign of Emperor Maximinus hangs by a thread. At the helm of an empire that is bleeding manpower and money to sustain its wars in the north, rebellions break out on the fringes of its territories. In Rome, the prefect of Maximinus is assassinated and it is announced that the Gordians have taken the throne.
