Roma, peligro para caminantes

"Roma, peligro para caminantes" is the first book of the Roman period by Rafael Alberti. Published in 1968, it presents the poet incessantly strolling through a stylized urban panorama made up of cats, garbage, crevices and monuments. A fresco of contrasting tones and colors: by day, the lively life of the streets and markets; at night, the silence, the loneliness and the memories that haunt the life of the exile. An exceptional book, full of musicality, irony, playful spirit and, at the same time, depth, which also reflects two fundamental episodes for the evolution of the Alberti "de senectute": the encounter with the artistic environment of the Italian capital and the discovery of the tradition of Romanesque dialect poetry initiated by Giuseppe Gioachino Belli, which Alberti crosses in his verses with the poetic heritage of the greats of the Spanish Golden Age.
