Richard Fleischer

Belonging to the so-called Generation of Violence, Richard Fleischer has not enjoyed the same critical fortune as the rest of its members. Critics and historians have never known in which list to include it, whether in that of the authors or in that of the artisans. The doubts are to a certain extent understandable because in his filmography art and craftsmanship are amalgamated, forming the same solid alloy. In any case, it's time to do him justice. Fleischer's legacy includes almost fifty feature films, among which we find admirable titles such as "The Narrow Margin" (1952), "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954), "The Vikings" (1958), "Criminal Impulse" (1959), "Barabbas" (1961) or "The Boston Strangler" (1968).
