República encantada
tradición, tolerancia y liberalismo en España
Ridao, José María
The author explores with enormous lucidity various controversial aspects of Spanish historiography: the denial of the Muslim past, the consequences of the expulsion of Jews and Moors from our country, the imposition of a retrograde religious orthodoxy, the difficulties that tolerance has had to prosper in Spain, the scant roots of an authentic liberalism and the everlasting persecution of the dissident for the sake of a uniformity almost always imposed by force. All of this serves to establish an enlightening diagnosis of the complex social and political reality of the country at the present time.
