Criticism of religion has become commonplace. Both the denunciations of its historical and institutional abuses and the proposals that appeal for a "spirituality without religion" abound. What hasn't been talked about enough is its role in the civilizing crisis. This book denounces the religious dimension of the current crisis. It reveals religion as the radical monopoly that hijacks personal and collective capacities to relate to the Mystery, alienating us from reality for the sake of a purely artificial world project. In his analysis, the author distances himself from both institutionalized religions and the faces of spirituality assimilated by the market. He seeks the recovery of the personal and community relationship with the mystery of reality through friendship and a return to the senses.
