Regreso al Edén
Premio ACDCómic 2021
Roca, Paco
From a family photo from 1946 on the old Nazaret beach in the Valencian capital, Paco Roca draws a fresco about postwar Spain through one of those humble families, a reflection of the vast majority of society that survived under the Franco dictatorship, with serious problems to access sustenance, forced to go by system to the black market to barely get a basic daily diet. A vigorous and delicate four-color portrait of a Spain of gray tones and freedoms severed by a political regime, also a breeding ground for the spread of moral miseries. Truffled with autobiographical references, Paco Roca goes one step further with Return to Eden in his search for memory. Emotional and balanced, full of graphic resources and first-rate narrative solutions, Paco Roca presents his most ambitious work as a complete creator since Los surcos del azar and La casa.
