Reescrituras de la masculinidad

hombres y feminismo

Armengol, Josep M.

Men, like women, are marked by gender, and thus have experienced culturally and historically specific gender processes. The good news is that if we define gender as a cultural and historical construct, rather than as an internal or immutable essence, we start from the assumption that masculinity can change: what has been culturally constructed can also be culturally deconstructed. "Rewritings of masculinity" aims to provide an interdisciplinary approach to masculinities, as interesting as necessary not only to better understand the lives of men, but also to be able to rethink them and, ultimately, change them, with the ultimate goal of improving the lives of both men and women. If feminism was undoubtedly the greatest social revolution of the 20th century, the change in men and masculinities could perfectly well become, as the feminist psychologist Victoria Sau defended, one of the most important social revolutions of the new century.
