Milagros is one of those Galician villages where the men emigrate and the women wait. Lola agreed with her husband, Manuel, that he would be in Argentina for three years, but after a couple of visits, he stops showing signs of life. While the rest of the neighbors return from America, Lola keeps her life in suspense, looking for justifications for the lack of news from Manuel.
