Quinientos epigramas griegos
VV.AA.
The epigram began as an inscription in verse to commemorate a death or an offering and over time became a particularly dynamic literary genre. Funeral, votive, erotic, skeptic (satirical), riddle, literary critic, descriptive, narrative, symposium, arithmetic, Christian ... The variety of themes and motifs in Greek epigrams is almost infinite. Each epigram is a small universe that tells a complete story in a handful of verses, sometimes in just two, and that pushes the expressive capacities of poetry to the limit. This anthology of the Greek epigram presents a comprehensive overview of the genre, from the 3rd century BC until the 6th century AD, and shows why the epigram is one of the poetic forms with the greatest presence in all of Greek literature.
