The history of humanity acquires unexpected shades when reviewed in scientific terms. Had we had the chemical knowledge that we have today, the lives of our ancestors would have been very different. Along a path planted with intellectual commitment, happy hits, fruitful mistakes, perseverance and chance, we have been understanding the molecular structure of what surrounds us. The use we want to give to that knowledge is our decision. This book looks at some historical cases that explain how, sometimes randomly, the great discoveries in the field of chemistry have been made, who their most outstanding figures have been, against what diseases and toxins knowledge can protect us and what advantages we have with respect to past times, simply by knowing more chemistry.
