When Emma gets separated from her friend Abigail during a late-night party in the woods, where everyone has had too much to drink, she still believes their lives are about to begin. But Emma will never see her friend again. However, what happens from this moment on in Whistling Ridge, a remote and claustrophobic town in Colorado, is much more than the story of a missing girl. It is a story of grudges and secrets, resentments and rage, love and lies. Abigail's disappearance will cause the facade of hypocrisy and religious fervor, which dominates the town's inhabitants, to crumble and Emma's struggle to discover the truth turns all the town's residents into suspects and accomplices in the tragedy.
