Quan fèiem goig

The people of Kosawa have been living in fear for years due to the environmental devastation caused by an American oil company in their ancestral community. Constant spills of crude have made farmland barren, polluted water has destroyed the natural ecosystems they depended on for food, and the absence of drinking water has cost the lives of countless creatures. However, the oil company's eternal promises to carry out clean-up operations never come to fruition, nor do compensation for lost assets, and the country's government, led by a cynical dictator, only serves its own interests. Cornered, the sons and daughters of Kosawa decide to defend themselves, and the struggle, which will last for decades, will be charged a very high price. Elegiacal and vibrant, clairvoyant and fabulous, When We Made Joy is a masterful portrait of capitalism at all costs, the long shadows that colonialism and slavery still cast on the African continent and the will of a people to sacrifice everything for the freedom.
