Punta Albatros
Leoz, Margarita
The doctor who is the protagonist of this novel leaves the city to move to Punta Albatros, an isolated and wild coastal region, lashed by the winds and the tides. There he will come into contact with the beings that inhabit it: the owner of the hostel, the elderly of the residence on the island of Goz or a disturbing boatman who owns two ferocious dogs. But this new life is also an inevitable return to lost memories and affections -to his wife, to his lover, to his friends, to his old job at the hospital- and to everything he has left behind. Accompanied by the protagonist, the reader of Punta Albatros will unravel the reasons and the secrets that motivated his particular flight. Margarita Leoz displays in her first novel an unusual narrative mastery, which she already showed in Flores out of season, the volume of stories that made her worthy of comparisons with Alice Munro or Joy Williams.
