The changes produced by the constant adaptation of social networks to the interests of society cause a lack of knowledge in their users that can favor the commission of infractions regarding the protection of personal data and foster criminal behavior carried out in the digital sphere. Through this work we will address, among other issues, the relevance of consent, the rights of users, and the civil protection of the right to honor, privacy and self-image, concluding with a study of the most common crimes committed throught social media. The content includes various practical issues, relevant jurisprudence, practical cases based on current rulings, and interest forms that will help the reader to have a general knowledge of data protection in the environment of social networks.
