Porque me da la gana

una vida contra los prejuicios

Raissali, Imani

This story begins in 2004, when Miss Raisa, born in Morocco, emigrated with her parents and siblings to Barcelona. She was just an eight-year-old girl leaving her country and its people behind, but to the world she had become an immigrant, and she would never stop being one. Without speaking Spanish or Catalan, she soon had to face a society that did not accept her origin. That was not the only discrimination that she suffered from her: as she grew older, she added that of wearing a veil, for not adapting to Spanish customs; that of the Muslim community, for adapting too much to them; that of being a woman in a world of men, rap. In this book, the vindictive artist looks back on herself and tells us how that girl has become an adult and she has challenged and overcome each and every one of the prejudices that have come her way. Today, Miss Raisa is a free, proud, empowered woman, and above all, committed to making this world a better place. This is her life, this is her manifesto.
