Francisco de Quevedo y Villegas is, without a doubt, one of the great names of our letters in the entire history of literature, and not only Spanish, but worldwide. He reflected in his literary work the deep contradiction between the political man who vocationally wanted to be and the poet who knew how to write the most exalted poems of our Baroque. These two traits are also characteristic of his character, and from them a terrifying disappointment is born that will lead him to survive in his refuge of creation and to write to live and suffer. Because Quevedo does not hesitate to offer the fragmentation of his world, his own and that which surrounds him, dissolving at the same time as his own life. Thus, Quevedo's poetry is simply sublime. For the reader of yesterday, today and forever, because in it there is the condensation not only of the universal lyric, but the great themes that occupy the mind and heart of every human being: love, death, life. And for that very reason the need for a careful and revised edition of his complete poetry is evident. Here we offer it in all its purity, with clean and fixed texts, accompanied by brief initial explanations to each of the themes and thoughts of it. An eternal, global, simple and wonderful reading. An edition for everyone and forever, by the hand of Alfonso Rey and María José Alonso Veloso, legacy and tribute of the maestro José Manuel Blecua.
