1961-1970

Brossa, Joan
Bordons, Glòria (ed.)

The present volume contains fourteen Brossian poetry collections written between 1961 and 1970. We therefore find Brossian's obsessions of the sixties: Frègoli, the artist's books (in 1963 he began collaborations with Tàpies, Miró and others artists), poetic visuality, cinema (in 1967 he started a relationship with Pere Portabella), reporting (from Vietnam, Cuba, Paris, etc. in our country) and love. Apart from some poems published in an artist's book (such as Frègoli, with serigraphs by Tàpies), in publishing houses where they went somewhat unnoticed, or in the selections published in 1977 and 1980, a good part of the work of this volume was unpublished during Brossa's lifetime. The volume also includes the (very uncanonical) translation of Wordpoems for the voice (1965) by Alain Arias-Misson, an example of Brossa's integration into experimental poetry. Free verse and short poems predominate in the work of this period, alongside an increasingly present visual poetry. You can also grasp the play with the arrangement and dialogue between poems and the contrast between visuality, writing and subversion.
