Poesía completa, 2

1948-1954

Neruda, Pablo

This second volume of the Complete Poetry covers one of the most important periods in Neruda's life. Between 1948 and 1952 the poet was betrayed, persecuted and pushed to live in hiding and in exile, which led him to acquire a unique perspective on American history as an ancestral and persistent struggle for freedom. We are before a political Neruda who seeks "the best of men" and who finds it in the town, but also before a writer who lived his secret love with Matilde Urrutia, whom he identifies with the land and landscapes of the his childhood. This volume includes Canto general, Los versos del Capitán and Las uvas y el viento, as well as the scattered poetry and poetic prose of this period. Years in which "the political" appears as a synthesis between love and the search for human brotherhood and solidarity, which in turn rhyme with the simplicity and generosity of nature.
