Volume I of the complete Poetry includes the poetry and poetic prose of Pablo Neruda written between 1915 and 1947. It includes his abundant initial work -dispersed in newspapers and handwritten notebooks-, in which the creative maturity of the adolescent poet surprises and where it springs his love poetry, which has an early culmination in Twenty Love Poems and a Desperate Song, a collection of poems that is among the most published, translated and read of all time. This volume also contains the starting point for other fundamental aspects of Nerudian work: that which penetrates the mysteries of the material world and its political poetry, which was born with the Spanish Civil War, and whose main landmark is the poem "España en el corazón". We also have here the first of the poet's top works, Residence on Earth, an essential meditation on the totality of life subjected to the wear and tear of time and death.
