Pessoa, Fernando
Barja, Juan (ed.)

One of the most fascinating phenomena in Pessoa's personality, as Perfect E. Cuadrado points out in the Prologue of this book, is that of his heteronymic multiplication, with which the Portuguese writer is capable not only of "inventing" the works of various poets, but to create "various poets." However, among them it is possible to incorporate precisely the figure of the orthonym Pessoa, another "other" in the Pessoan universe, whose production, signed with his name, is distinguished by reflecting the lived experience to a greater degree than the heteronymic work. The present volume X of the poetic work of Fernando Pessoa is the third consecutive one dedicated to his orthonym work, specifically the one published between 1914 and 1917, a period of literary maturity in which the author, especially from the appearance in 1915 from Orpheu magazine, will incorporate new poetry linked to the symbolism and isms of the first avant-gardes.
