Pinar, piscina, plenilunio
Rodríguez, Patricia
Three long stories, with common links between them, about the underground violence and toxicity that seeps under the epidermis of everyday life, constitute 'Pinar, piscina, plenilunio', by Patricia Rodríguez. The three parts of the book are structured around women. The passage of time, the weight of conventions and the mystery in life are some of the issues that she addresses. In 'Pinar' three adolescent girls enter the adult world. 'Piscina' is about a party, the abulia, the satiety and the longing for life of its protagonist. 'Plenilunio' has shades of decadence in a world where loneliness and isolation prevail. The three parts have as a common link the gaze of a woman and make the whole a unitary narrative. In the novel, the Valladolid author once again displays her personal literary style, full of evocations and an atmosphere no less loaded around characters who cope with the dissatisfaction of her lives by loading themselves with conventional objects and situations. An exercise in style, content and suggestive that catches the reader until the last line.
