We will never get out of this crisis. Not, at least, within this economic and social scheme that we have put into effect. Although this has been known for a long time, we have not wanted to change anything, and now we cannot wait any longer: the consequences of our actions are becoming visible, and the first signs of disaster, such as the shortage of oil, are becoming apparent to us. Hence the name petrocalypse, and from the same starting point this raw and enlightening study, trying to offer alternatives to the current energy system. In the face of a frenzy of news praising the use of renewable energy sources, this book explains clearly and concisely why these supposed solutions will not work, and presents the options we face in this issue, which has no easy solutions or shortcuts, as urgent as it is radical.
