When retired agent Finlay Shaw is found dead in a locked room, everyone thinks it's suicide. But Detective William Fawkes, alias Wolf, is not so sure, as he knows that Shaw would never have left his wife Maggie, his life partner. Fawkes, who has turned himself in to the police to settle some pending accounts with the law, gets special permission to take charge of the investigation of his former mentor. But was Shaw as blameless as he appeared? Or maybe there was something in his life that he never told anyone? Wolf dives into the case with the help of Detective Emily Baxter and her regular collaborators, but his return is not welcomed by all. As he digs deeper and deeper into Shaw's past, the cop uncovers a web of corruption that puts his life and the lives of those around him at stake.
