Partes de guerra
Martínez de Pisón, Ignacio
(ed.)
These thirty-odd stories are surely among the best that have been written about the Civil War [...] But what this anthologist has tried to do has not been to put together a bunch of good stories but to tell the Civil War, or at least least a large part of it, through the stories written by some of our best storytellers. Hence the chronological order, which proposes a journey from shortly before July 18, 1936 to shortly after April 1, 1939. Hence also a certain aspiration to globality: in this volume the reader will find stories originally written in Spanish but also in Catalan, Galician and Basque, stories written by men and women, from the right and from the left, by authors who belong to the mainstream and authors who don't, stories set in national and republican Spain, on the front and in the rearguard, in the countryside and in the city, in the north and in the south.
