Melinda Sordino's first year at Merryweather High isn't off to a great start. Ever since he ruined an end-of-holiday party by calling the police, all his friends, and even strangers, hate him. She then decides to isolate herself, stop talking and hide in herself, but all the lies running around the high school are getting bigger and even if she wanted to, she wouldn't find anyone to talk to or anyone who would listen to Being inside his head isn't much better: he has something trapped inside that he doesn't want to think about and only art class is a refuge where he can better understand what's happening to him. But at some point she will have to face what torments her, what happened on the day of the party, what no one knows. At some point he will have to tell the truth.
