In the city of Queen Mab, nothing is what it seems. Alizabeth Bequin has been a pariah, a spy and an agent of the Inquisition and, at the same time, nothing like that. An enigma, even to herself, she finds herself caught between Inquisitors Gregor Eisenhorn and Gideon Ravenor, former allies turned enemies, who are drawn into a veiled plot against a mysterious and deadly foe.
