Papá nos quiere
Domínguez, Leticia G.
What happens when childhood is not the happy place it should be? How much violence and madness can be hidden within four walls? What happens when those who say they love you the most are the cause of your fears? Growing up in a family that turns its back on the reality of others, coping with Catholic morality imposed to the last extreme, but, above all, finding out that what you live is not acceptable, are just some of the questions and circumstances that surround to the narrator of Papa loves us and her sister Jade. This is the story of the adult who, guided by her therapist, investigates the past and relives her childhood. Here is the reconstruction, the story never told. Because, as mom said, "what happens behind closed doors you don't have to tell anyone". Thus, the writing itself - thorny and raw, openly - becomes an act of rebellion and reaffirmation of identity, while at the same time it disrupts the sacralization of the family establishment and calls into question the blind loyalty that is demanded towards the family.
