Ovidio

Ovidio

Cristóbal López, Vicente

Publius Ovidius Naso (43 BC-17 AD) is one of the greatest poets of ancient Rome. Brilliant storyteller, versatile, ironic, erudite, humorous, sensitive, provocative... There are innumerable facets that his inexhaustible work shows. In this study, Vicente Cristóbal offers a general overview of Ovid's poetry, but pays special attention to the love-themed works of his first creative stage. This analysis of the Ovidian corpus addresses not only its purely literary aspects, but also integrates a complete historical contextualization and pays special attention to the survival of such works in later literature.
