Opera Magna

Opera Magna

XXIX Premio Jaén de Novela

Marco Aguilar, Vicente

An aspiring writer named Diego Leonarte bursts overnight into the routine life of Mando Benavides, whose literary career, without being brilliant, has already won him some awards. Diego's omnipresence and generosity overwhelm Mando from the first moment, and they create a conflict with his wife, Aina. A conflict that will go beyond jealousy, suspicion, to enter the territory of anguish and fear. Mando struggles to escape from this "friendship", apparently faked, which will gradually become an obsession and which, like a field of quicksand, traps both the protagonist and the reader thanks to a plot that turns out to be a complex and perfect clockwork. "Opera Magna" is a psychological thriller with the unhealthy turbidity of classic authors of the genre such as Patricia Highsmith, whose disturbing ambiguity and dizzying spiral of events, narrated in the first person, is read avidly and leaves no respite.
