On ets, món bonic
Rooney, Sally
Two friends are approaching thirty in different cities and after a long time without seeing each other. Alice, a novelist, meets Felix, who works in a warehouse, and asks him to accompany her to Rome to promote her latest book. In Dublin, her best friend, Eileen, is getting over a breakup and starts flirting with Simon, a boy she has known since they were children. As summer approaches, the two girls send each other catch-up emails. They talk about their friendship, their relationships, art, literature and an increasingly uncertain future. They say they want to see each other soon, but what will happen when they do? Alice, Felix, Eileen, and Simon are still young, but they will soon be out of it. They get together and separate, they want each other and they lie to each other. They have sex, they suffer for love, for their friendships and for the world in which they live. Are they in the last lit room before dark? Will they find a way to believe in a beautiful world? Rooney once again deploys her ability to analyze human behavior and again demonstrates why she is one of the most important authors of the moment in a novel that seeks beauty in the chiaroscuro of friendship and in the uncertain future of our planet .
