Odolekoak

Mendizabal Aranburu, Antxiñe

From 1941 until recently, the novel tells the story of a family in Pamplona, over three generations, through three women: Matilde, Teresa and Amaia, three matryoshkas who seek and deny their mother. Current fashions, events, and lifestyles pass before a traveling mirror; the tensions, struggles, and changes of society are reflected in this vivid chronicle. Above the great history, however, we learn the stories of many people: the Echalucetans, but also their relatives, maids, friends, and enemies. But above all, what you have at hand is a deep, hard and moving story about mother-daughter relationships: a difficult, complex and painful bond, full of conflicting feelings, like some live drink that will burn your throat when you enter and warm you up for a long time.
