I am Odysseus, son of Laertes, king of Ithaca. By my wiles I have forced an oath and for honor I have provoked a war that will be remembered for millennia. I have known Achilles, and Ajax the giant, and Evandros the aedus. I have promoted a war and I have also put an end to it with a trap embodied in a wooden horse. I have caused so many deaths that the gods punish me and do not want me to return home. But the gods do not matter to me, nor will they be able to stop me. My wife Penelope is waiting for me. They won't make me lose myself in any trap. She awaits me.
