Ocnos ; Variaciones sobre tema mexicano

Cernuda, Luis

If the poetic work in verse by Luis Cernuda (1902-1963) meets in "La Realidad y el Deseo" (already published in this collection), the same is true of prose poetry in this volume, which, together with the poet wanted it, "Ocnos" and "Variations on Mexican theme". Evocation of his childhood and early youth, one, transmutation and falling in love with the country where he would live the last stage of his life, both books (peaks of the genre) exorcise the depression and melancholy caused by his stages of exile in Anglo-Saxon lands. As noted in the introduction to the volume, "Thus welded both works in this dual but unique book written over twenty-one years, Cernuda's life makes admirable sense not only for the intrinsic value of prose poems, but for the depth of his meditation and the height of his transparent, exact style".
