Hesíodo
Poet educator of the people, Hesiod is, together with Homer, the great person in charge of having fixed the religious framework of the Greeks. Therefore, his impact and his influence on Western culture are almost immeasurable. His texts, originated when the Greek polis was consolidated in the 8th century BC, are fundamental to establish to a large extent the later classical culture. This volume, prepared by two excellent connoisseurs of archaic Greek literature, collects all the known works of Hesiod, as well as some text of doubtful authenticity that tradition attributes to him. That includes his famous "Theogony", "Works and Days" and "Shield", and also fragmentary texts such as the "Catalog of women or the Great Eeas".
