O ; Exorcismos de esti(l)o
Cabrera Infante, Guillermo
In this volume coexist two books close to Guillermo Cabrera Infante's time: the collection of articles and essays O, originally published in 1975, and the book of experimental pieces Exorcismos de esti(l)o, published in 1976. In the first, the author displays his peculiar creative ingenuity, sometimes satirical and mocking, to describe facets of his daily life and contemporary life, referring to characters as diverse as his unique cat Offenbach and members of the secret police. In Exorcismos, a collection full of classical lore and sarcastic literary investigations, the playful talent of Cabrera Infante shines, as well as his obsession with language surprises, embodied in a series of puns, multilingual word games and ingenious typographic manipulations that evoke ee cummings and the OuLiPo.
