Borja works as a translator for an international organization in New York, where he lives with John, his partner. One night he receives a call from a forgotten cousin to inform him that his brother has just died and that he has something to give her. Long ago, in the 1990s, Borja left the Basque Country to break up with a family and a land intoxicated by hatred and misunderstanding. In the United States, he became another person, someone who, with roots uprooted and a buried past, embraced a present lived in freedom and in another language. But one call may be enough to bring down the highest walls. Now he, the accursed son of a descended lineage, is the only heir to the abandoned mansion that overlooks the sea from the top of the town of Algorta. Only he can open the door again and decide what to do with so many years of silence and pain. But closing the wounds is not easy and the effort to write a book about that past may help to rekindle them.
