In the middle of the XXII century, some people have mutated developing extraordinary intelligence or paranormal powers, which has allowed them to dominate the rest of humanity. Nick Appleton, a humble worker, has pinned all his hopes on his son Bobby, who aspires to enter the Civil Service and be part of the machinery of power. But he won't be accepted, which adds one more failure to Nick's frustrating existence. However, his life and his timid attitude are transformed when he falls in love with the young subversive Charlotte Boyer and when Thors Provoni, who had undertaken a reckless journey into outer space in search of allies for the oppressed, announces his imminent return to Earth accompanied of an inhabitant of the distant planet Frolik 8, who will help them to break free and establish a new world order.
