Nuestra Señora de París

Hugo, Victor

In 15th-century Paris, with its gloomy alleys populated by those disinherited by fortune and tormented spirits, the gypsy Esmeralda, who predicts the future and fatally attracts men, is unjustly accused of the death of her beloved and sentenced to the gallows. Grateful for the support he once received from her, Quasimodo, Our Lady's bell ringer, of Herculean strength and whose horrible ugliness hides a sensitive heart, saves her from her and gives her asylum in the cathedral. "Our Lady of Paris" has given rise to numerous opera libretti and several film versions.
