Nuestra lucha global por los derechos humanos
derecho contra poder
Kaleck, Wolfgang
Kaleck's work has taken him to Buenos Aires, to support the mothers of young people 'disappeared' under the Argentine military dictatorship; to exiled Syrian communities, where he made the case against torture ordered by the top brass of the Assad government; to Central America, where he collaborated with those who persecute the Guatemalan military for their massacres of indigenous people; to New York, to partner with the Center for Constitutional Rights to bring action against Donald Rumsfeld for the "enhanced interrogation techniques" he authorized after 9/11; and to Moscow, where he represents Edward Snowden. In recounting his involvement in such cases, Kaleck gives full voice to those he represents, emphasizing the courage and persistence they bring to the global quest for justice. The result is a book full of compelling and vivid stories that underscore the idea that while the world is often a terrible place, universal human rights standards can prevail when people are willing to fight for them.
