Notes d'hivern sobre impressions d'estiu
Dostoevskiï, Fiodor Mijaïlovich
In this unconventional travel notebook, Dostoevsky collects his impressions (and above all sharp reflections) of the itinerary he made through Europe in the summer of 1862: Berlin, Wiesbaden, Paris, London, Geneva, Florence... In addition to approaching his cultural references, he sought medical advice to treat his epilepsy. But Dostoevsky, of course, does not give us a tourist chronicle, but rather establishes a constant comparison between Russia and what he has known first hand in Europe, of which, among other aspects, he attacks its utilitarianism, its lust for money and submission to technology.
